AI Is Not My Ghostwriter – It’s Just a Mirror of My Thinking

“I never asked AI to think for me. I only wanted it to help express what I’ve already thought.”

In today’s academic world, I’m increasingly concerned by how easily someone’s writing can be dismissed simply because an AI detection tool flagged it as “30% AI-generated.” As if that number tells the full story of effort, intention, or originality.

Let me be clear: AI is not my ghostwriter. It doesn’t steal my voice. It reflects it. It reflects my thinking, my questions, my doubts, my attempts to be clear, and my hope to connect with readers.

Yes, I Still Think. Even More Deeply Than Before.

When I write with AI tools like ChatGPT, I don’t say: “Write me an article about AI-aware assessment.” Instead, I ask for clarity, refinement, and perspective on what I’ve already developed.

The thinking is mine. The reflection is mine. What AI offers is feedback, structure, or clarity. But it is I who steer the meaning and intent.

The Problem Isn’t AI – It’s Our Fear of It.

Detection tools cannot measure how long I reflected on my arguments, how many drafts I rewrote, or how much I cared about whether my voice came through. And yet, these are the things that matter most in writing.

AI-Aware ≠ AI-Abuse

I don’t deny that AI can be misused. But banning it is not the answer. Educating writers is. The AI-aware approach sees AI as a collaborator, not a crutch. A mirror, not a shortcut.

Final Thought: I Write with Technology, Not by Technology

So here’s what I want the academic world to know: I am still the author. I still think. And AI is just a tool — not a ghost, not a cheat, not a writer in my place.

Please don’t silence my voice just because it was refined through technology. Because at the end of the day, the quality of that voice is still mine.
